Features of Navistar IDI 6.9L/7.3L Engines
Search Parts replaces 100% of pistons, rings, bearings, bushings, thermostat, filters, hoses, gaskets, o-rings and seals.

All cylinder heads are Magnaflux tested for cracks and pressure tested for porosity. All assembled cylinder heads are vacuum tested for valve seal.

All turbocharged engines get new Inconel^® valves.

Cylinder blocks are 100% bored and decked on CNC machining centers and 100% pressure tested; Cylinder bores are CNC diamond plateau honed.

All connecting rods are de-magnetized and controlled for length.

Core plugs are 100% stainless steel to avoid corrosion.

Search Parts installs new block heaters on all IDI engines

Left bank cylinders on IDI 7.3L engines are 100% sleeved to repair cylinder porosity caused by cavitation common with this engine. Right bank cylinders are sleeved as necessary.

All injectors are remanufactured and used using new tips and then calibrated for proper injection pressure and fuel delivery.

Search Parts injection pumps are remanufactured and used, not just rebuilt to fix failed parts. The advance bore is remanufactured and used to a better than new design ensuring accurate timing. All EIDs are brought up to the later design to eliminate surging. A standard bill of materials including many OEM/new components is used to ensure a consistent level of quality.

Search Parts's Dyno Test
Search Parts's Complete Drop-In engines are 100% dynamometer tested prior to shipment. Computer controls ensure that each dyno test is conducted under standard, repeatable settings. Every engine is run through a warm up cycle; three separate segments simulating light, medium and heavy throttle conditions; peak torque and full load horsepower tests; high and low idle tests; and a final black light leak detection test with dyed oil, coolant and fuel. Oil and coolant temperatures, crankcase pressure, and oil and turbo boost pressures are also measured, as well as fuel consumption. Search Parts also has the ability to perform NOx and smoke opacity emission tests.
